Join MotoDiscovery’s Day of the Dead tour with Dustin and Janel Silvey

Join MotoDiscovery and Dustin and Janel Silvey on a bespoke Dia De Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) Adventure with all the colorful traditions, delicious food and fantastic riding the Mexican state of Oaxaca is known for! In partnership with the BMW MOA, MotoDiscovery and the Silveys are excited to host an expedition exclusive to MOA members.

MotoDiscovery has enjoyed exploring the roads of Mexico with loyal BMW riding enthusiasts since 1981. The idea for the company was a simple one: Run a few motorcycle tours into Old Mexico and do what they could to tear away the myths and reveal the magic of a land that they had grown to love. With those early successes also grew a confidence to utilize their well-learned lessons and seek out even more distant lands through Central and South America. Today more than ever, MotoDiscovery continues to spin the globe, not only seeking new destinations but doing it in a fashion to meet the discriminating demands of today’s international motorcycle traveler. What better way to observe this over four-decade-long relationship with BMW than to join a MotoDiscovery Mexico tour, specially crafted exclusive to members of the MOA? The tour will run from October 28 to November 9, 2024.

Dustin and Janel Silvey will be joining the tour as the MOA’s hosts. You likely know them from reading about their adventures traveling across Canada, or meeting them at the recent rally in Redmond, Oregon. Now, as seasoned world travelers, experienced video documentarians and photographers, they will be sharing this Mexico tour experience in the pages of BMW Owners News and with participants. As a special bonus, Dustin, an adventure photographer and motorcycle enthusiast, will be generously offering tips during the trip on how to hone your video and photography skills to fully capture the magic of this unique event. With the Silveys being such lively talkers, we have even extended the ride an additional two days (total of 13) to ensure we can experience all the magic that this area of Mexico has to offer.

The Oaxaca Dia De Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) Adventure is a paved road tour. You will fly into Mexico City, where the tour officially gathers. However, no need to worry about riding in the city, as a private transfer is arranged to link up with the BMW motorcycles in the Valley of Tepoztlan—where the riding adventure starts! The ride will take advantage of great secondary roads to the city of Cholula, where you will stay overnight in an authentic, luxurious hotel at the base of the world’s largest pyramid. The next day, the tour will take a direct route to Mitla, an authentic small town, where you will be conveniently located within driving distance of Oaxaca centro and main plaza for two nights. Oaxaca has earned a worldwide reputation for its art, weaving and cuisine. It is also home to mezcal, the high-octane nectar of the gods. Cemeteries will come alive with the setting sun and indigenous residents gather around the graves of loved ones to give offerings to the spirits.

Reuniting with the motorcycles, the tour will ride what is arguably one of the finest riding roads in Mexico to descend from the heights of the Sierra Madres to the Pacific Coast. The tour will enjoy two nights on the ocean’s edge at Quinta Bella Huatulco. From there, the tour will begin to tackle some of the best roads Mexico has to offer, as we make our way back to the Valley of Tepoztlan. We will enjoy some great stops with the focus on riding, culture and some amazing cuisine. Then we return the bikes at our last luxurious stop and either spend a few extra days in Mexico City or head home.

Come join Motodiscovery and the MOA on this grand tour as we search out the Day of Dead celebration, hone our photography skills, ride some amazing Mexican roads and make some new friends. Spots are limited to 10 motorcycles, sign up on the MotoDiscovery website.
